When arriving at Luton airport it is easy to be bombarded and distracted by the whole host of companies offering you the ‘best deals’ on onward transportation, but there is one way you can ensure you get the best deal possible and that is by visiting the onward travel centre.

The onward travel centre is located on level one of the terminal building, just nearby the arrivals hall. Here you can speak to trained professionals and get genuine advice about your onward journey.

If you are planning on getting the train to or from the airport then you will need to catch a special shuttle bus that connects the main terminal to Luton airport parkway station. Luckily there are many services currently running every 10minutes from 5:00am in the morning to midnight, so you don’t have to worry about waiting around for too long.

If you have an all inclusive ticket into London then the shuttle bus service will be free of charge, if not you will be charged £1.50 which can be paid on the bus in person.

There are regular services to central London with two major train companies – East Midlands Trains and First capital connect. Trains are high speed and you could be in London within just 21 minutes of leaving Luton!

However these train journeys can be overpriced. To get a better deal book online in advance – either through the London Luton website or through National rail. Another more comfortable option is to book a rental car for the duration of your trip. This can actually work out cheaper then taking public transportation! Have a good trip.

If you are arriving on a late flight, sometimes it is nice to book a hotel nearby to the airport, so you can get a good nights sleep before traveling onto your next destination. The Holiday inn is a great place to do just that with plenty of amenities.

All of the rooms are triple glazed, so you don’t have to worry about having plane noises keeping you awake all night. Another great feature is that some of the rooms are actually overlooking the airport runways, so you can watch take-offs and landings. There is also a whole host of other facilities including a bureau du change, a business centre, 24 hour reception and dry cleaning service. Wireless Internet is available throughout the hotel at a small fee.

The main plus off this hotel is its close proximity to Luton airport – in fact it is just 0.06km away. Its so close you could walk there, but that is probably not the best idea with your luggage! So you could either hire a taxi from the rank at the entrance of the terminal, or you can hire a rental car for your trip.

Rooms start from just £50 a night, but you are much more likely to get a special discount rate for your stay if you book online instead of in person. The same principal applies to car rentals as well, see how much you could save today by trying out our vroom vroom search feature today.

The Luton carnival is the largest one day carnival in Europe and it attracts about 150,000 visitors each year. During this day, the streets become alive with a unique mix of Caribbean, south Asian, Latin and Irish sounds, sights and flavors.

The carnival started on a much smaller scale on a modest Victorian street in 1976, but quickly became a flagship event for the city of Luton and its diverse communities.

The carnival is also a great chance for you and your family to get a taste of the Caribbean, literally, with a plethora of concession stands filled with the most delicious jerk chicken, curries, south Asian cuisine and Caribbean delicacies you will find this side of the pond.

Be sure to check out the wide array of gift shops, craft and trade stalls usually located in the Wardown Park area and enjoy the many amusement park rides that will be sure to entertain the tots.

The carnival was only canceled once in its 30+ years of history due to extreme flooding and winds, so rest assured that unless something terrible happens you will be able to enjoy this year’s edition with your family.

This year’s edition of the carnival is set to take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 May 2010, from 12 noon until 7pm, so make sure to mark it on your calendars!

Be sure to drop by the Luton carnival during your next visit and be prepared to be amazed by the steel bands, masquerades and mind blowing array of colors and sounds the carnival as to offer…
